For NSK – a major sponsor of the Straumann Charity Bike Ride – it’s not merely a case of offering high quality dental products, it’s about putting back into less fortunate areas of the dental community too …
As a leading dental manufacturer NSK strive to work closely with dental professionals, extensively supporting many educational courses and events in the UK and helping to advance the skills of the profession through their use of high quality equipment.
NSK also actively support a number of dental related charities on a regular basis including Bridge2Aid. Alex Breitenbach, Managing Director of NSK United Kingdom Ltd comments, “The work that Bridge2Aid do is fantastic. We have contributed to the charity on a number of occasions by donating equipment, including two autoclaves, for use on the ground at the Hope Dental Centre in Mwanza, Tanzania, providing a much-needed general dental service to the local community”.
Alex goes on to comment, “This year we are once again supporting Straumann’s efforts to raise over £50,000 for Bridge2Aid via their intercontinental Charity Bike Ride. As part of our commitment, we have donated a top of the range NSK Surgic Pro worth more than £5,000, which has been auctioned to help raise funds. I am delighted to announce that Dr Simon Chard from Rothley Lodge Dental Practice in Staines has generously bid £3,101 for the unit, which is a tremendous amount to raise for this worthy cause.”
Simon Chard BDS, who after experiencing the NSK Surgic Pro during implant training with Dr Koray Feran LCIAD and seeing the unit up for auction, ceased the opportunity to make the winning bid to support such a worthy cause, “I am delighted to be able to contribute to the efforts of Bridge2Aid with my successful bid for the generously donated NSK Surgic Pro surgical micromotor. As a dentist it is distressing to me that Bridge2Aid reports that over 75% of the world’s population do not have access to a dentist. So to be able to help those whose charitable aim is to provide emergency dentistry and pain relief to those who need it most, as well as make a lasting change through training is personally very worthwhile. Empowering local people to improve their own lives over the long-term, Bridge2Aid, together with the support of companies like NSK and Straumann, provide rural-based clinical officers who have the skills and resources needed to deliver emergency dental treatment in their communities.”
The 2016 Straumann Charity Bike
The 2016 Straumann Charity Bike Ride will see over 40 riders cycle 450 miles across northern Spain from Cap D’Adge to San Sebastian in just 5 days from the 15th – 19th September. This route is famed for its outstanding beauty but the huge mountains en route are certain to test the riders, both mentally and physically. The two previous rides in 2013 and 2014 raised significant sums for Bridge2Aid and this year Straumann are committed to raising at least £50,000 for this very worthwhile cause.
Alex Breitenbach comments, “I know there are a vast number of charities and charity events and it can seem as if we are constantly being asked to put our hands in our pockets, but without hesitation I am asking for your support to help raise over £50,000 for Bridge2Aid in 2016. Donations can be made by visiting www.justgiving.com/teams/Straumann2016. Thank you!” www.bridge2aid.org
