Milled and laser printed structures are already widely used for single crowns, simple and complex bridgework, and all designs of bars, from round and Dolder type to milled precision telescopic bars.

The range of materials has greatly increased providing a real choice for the dental team and patient with economic and material strength advantages. Titanium and Cobalt Chrome are now being routinely substituted for high-cost precious metal alloy to produce substructures for bonding porcelain or attaching Nano-ceramics or Acrylic resin at less than half the price, but without the need to compromise on quality.

We now take Zirconium structures for granted in dentistry, as we do the super strength glasses and aesthetically appealing materials such as e-Max and Lava, and the popularity of Co/Cr and Titanium metal structures is outstripping precious metal as the basis for the majority of modern crown and bridge frameworks. New materials are becoming available with this novel manufacturing method and the future for strengthened plastics, such as PEEK looks very appealing indeed. Strong and aesthetic may well be the future for substructures for many forms of crown and bridgework.

Those of us who care about the restorations we produce can look ahead with confidence to partner specialist digital manufacturers who apply high standards of quality control and specialist knowledge to help satisfy the increasing demands from a better informed patient population.

There is undoubtedly more development and innovation to come in this relatively new world of virtual design. Many of the newer materials and production methods could become beyond the economic scope of anyone but specialist manufacturers, and connecting with third parties with the pedigree of Createch Medical can bridge the gap and provide access for small and large dental laboratories across the world to this exciting field. We all want our third party manufacturing partner to be as concerned with the treatment outcome as we are and need to have confidence this will be maintained throughout the working partnership. Createch offers that reassurance to meet the criteria for a high quality service and products to rely on.
